With this post I send my blog on its maiden voyage out into vast, ambiguous cyberspace. Quite a large, unknown space for a newborn blog such as this one.
I feel pangs of empathy for my little blog, as my feelings seem to mirror its situation in a strikingly similar way. I, too, am stepping out into an new type of experience: living and working overseas. On one hand, the last three years of college have been preparing me for this opportunity, and now it is finally just around the corner! On the other hand, I have never been in a country other than my own for this long, nor have I gone without the luxury of a large group of my friends from home surrounding me.
During the last few weeks, I have often been asked how I feel about my upcoming trip, only five short weeks away. In all honesty, they are a mixture of excitement, stress, and apprehension. I cannot wait to go back to Southeast Asia and reconnect with the people and culture I visited last summer. At the same time, there is so much to do to prepare for my trip before I go, so many details which must fall into place, from finalizing traveling arrangements to gaining much needed financial support. Then, once I have arrived, I know I will be greeted not only by welcome familiar faces but by a rather large learning curve.
I have to trust that He will hold my hand and prepare my way as I keep taking steps forward in this process. Thank you to each of you who are taking the time to follow my story. :)
